Sizing a chandelier for an Irish dining room
A quick rule of thumb: add the length and width of your room in feet, and that number in inches is roughly the right chandelier diameter. For a standard 2.4m Irish ceiling, hang the chandelier so its bottom sits 75-90cm above the dining table. Styles
Modern and brass — the three-light brass chandelier with opal glass globes is one of our best-reviewed pieces, and suits a contemporary dining space well.
Industrial and spider-frame — for an exposed-bulb look, the rope spider chandelier and large industrial chandelier both work well over a farmhouse or extendable dining table.
Raw metal — the galvanised steel chandelier and six-arm brass chandelier with fabric shades both bring texture without going fully industrial.

What size chandelier do I need for my dining room?

Add your room's length and width in feet, and use that number in inches as a rough diameter guide — for example, a 12x14ft room suggests a chandelier around 26 inches wide. For a table specifically, keep the chandelier width at least 30cm narrower than the table on each side.
How high should a chandelier hang above a dining table?

75-90cm between the bottom of the chandelier and the table surface is standard, which keeps it out of sightlines while still throwing light where you need it. Most of our chandeliers include adjustable chain or cable, so you can fine-tune this on installation.
