Common questions

How do I know which cap type my fitting needs?

Check the base of your current bulb or the fitting's spec sheet. GU10 has two pins with a twist-lock base, E27 and E14 are screw fittings (E27 being the larger, standard size), and G9 is a small two-pin push fitting. Most product pages on our site list the required cap type in the specifications.

Are filament LED bulbs as bright as standard LED bulbs?

Modern filament LEDs match standard LED output for a given wattage, but they're designed to be seen rather than hidden behind a shade, so they suit open, exposed fittings better than enclosed ones where the visual detail is wasted.

What colour temperature should I choose?

2700K gives a warm, cosy tone suited to living rooms and bedrooms. 4000K is a neutral white better suited to kitchens and bathrooms. Vintage filament bulbs are almost always 2700K or lower, in keeping with their decorative look.
