G95 Clear Filament — The oversized globe, filament visibility & G95 vs G80
The G95 clear filament is the most visually commanding bulb in the globe filament range. At 95mm diameter, the glass envelope is large enough to be a genuine design statement — the filament floats inside a sphere that is noticeably larger than a standard G80 or A60, creating a bold, architectural presence in open pendant drops and exposed-socket fittings. The clear glass means the filament is fully visible from all angles: at 2W, it produces a soft, intimate glow with the filament as the focal point; at 8W, it becomes a practical ambient source while retaining the decorative character of the visible filament. The G95 is best suited to fittings where the bulb is the centrepiece — a single bare pendant drop, an open cage fitting, or a table lamp without a shade. In an enclosed shade, the size advantage is lost and a smaller bulb would be more practical. Warm white (2700–3000K) is the natural choice for the G95 filament — the amber glow complements the decorative character of the large globe. Cool white (6000–6500K) is available for contemporary or industrial settings where a crisper light is preferred.

Common questions
What is the difference between the G95 clear filament and the G95 white glass?
+
Both are G95 globes with E27 caps. The clear filament has a transparent glass envelope — the LED filament is fully visible and creates a warm, decorative point of light inside the globe. The white glass has an opaque white envelope — the LED is hidden and the entire globe surface glows evenly. Choose clear filament if you want the filament to be a visible design element; choose white glass if you want a smooth, diffused glow with no visible source.
How does the G95 compare to the G80 in terms of visual impact?
+
The G95 is 15mm wider than the G80 — a difference that is clearly visible in a fitting. The G95 reads as a statement globe; the G80 is more restrained and versatile. In a single pendant drop, the G95 commands more attention and suits larger spaces or higher ceilings. In a cluster pendant or a fitting where multiple bulbs are used, the G80 is often the better choice as it does not overwhelm the fitting.
Will the G95 fit inside a standard pendant shade or cage fitting?
+
The G95 is 95mm in diameter — it will not fit inside most standard pendant shades or enclosed fittings. It is designed for open fittings where the globe hangs freely and is fully visible. In a cage fitting, check that the internal cage diameter is at least 100mm to accommodate the G95 without contact. Always measure before ordering.
Is 8W enough to use the G95 as the main light in a living room?
+
At 8W, the G95 produces approximately 600–700 lm — sufficient as a primary ambient source in a small to medium living room, particularly at 2700–3000K warm white. For a larger room or open-plan space, supplement with floor lamps or wall lights. The G95 is primarily a decorative bulb — its visual impact is as important as its light output.
Can I use the G95 in a table lamp without a shade?
+
Yes — the G95 is well-suited to table lamps used without shades, where the globe itself is the decorative element. The large clear glass and visible filament create a warm, sculptural presence on a side table or console. Ensure the lamp base has an E27 socket and that the socket height allows the G95 to sit without the globe touching any part of the base or surround.
