The G45 clear filament occupies a unique position in the globe filament range: it is the only globe filament small enough to fit inside most standard lampshades while still making the filament visible through the clear glass. At 45mm diameter, it clears the internal opening of drum, empire, and cone shades that would reject a G80 or G95. This means you get the decorative warmth of a visible filament — the amber glow, the visual texture of the coiled element inside the glass — in a fitting that would otherwise require a plain frosted bulb. In an open fitting, the G45 reads as a neat, compact globe with a warm filament glow; in a closed shade, the filament casts a soft, diffused warmth through the shade material. Will the G45 filament fit inside my existing lampshade?

At 45mm diameter, the G45 fits inside most standard drum, empire, and cone shades. Measure the internal opening of your shade — if it is at least 50mm across, the G45 will fit with clearance. Ensure the bulb does not touch the shade material; contact between a warm bulb and fabric is a fire risk. In an open-top shade or a lamp without a shade, the G45 globe and filament are fully visible.
What is the difference between the G45 clear filament and the G45 white glass?

Both are 45mm G45 globes with E27 caps. The clear filament has a transparent glass envelope — the LED filament is visible and creates a warm, decorative point of light. The white glass has an opaque white envelope — the LED is hidden and the entire globe surface glows evenly. Choose clear filament if you want the filament to be a visible design element; choose white glass if you want a smooth, diffused glow with no visible source.
Is 4W enough for a bedside table lamp used for reading?
