G45 LED Filament Globe Bulb E27 2W–8W — Clear Glass, Warm & Cool White, 220V, 50,000h

Compact G45 LED filament globe bulb with clear glass, E27 screw cap, available in four wattages (2W, 4W, 6W, 8W) and two colour temperatures — warm white (2700–3000K) and cool white (6000–6500K). At 45mm diameter, the G45 is the smallest globe filament in the range — the visible filament inside the compact clear glass sphere creates a warm, decorative glow that works in both open fittings and enclosed shades. Integrated LED — no bulb to buy separately.

G45 Clear Filament — The most versatile filament globe, shade compatibility & G45 vs G80

The G45 clear filament occupies a unique position in the globe filament range: it is the only globe filament small enough to fit inside most standard lampshades while still making the filament visible through the clear glass. At 45mm diameter, it clears the internal opening of drum, empire, and cone shades that would reject a G80 or G95. This means you get the decorative warmth of a visible filament — the amber glow, the visual texture of the coiled element inside the glass — in a fitting that would otherwise require a plain frosted bulb. In an open fitting, the G45 reads as a neat, compact globe with a warm filament glow; in a closed shade, the filament casts a soft, diffused warmth through the shade material. The compact size also makes the G45 the right choice for cluster pendants where multiple globes hang close together — the smaller diameter prevents the globes from crowding each other visually. At 2W, the G45 is a pure accent and atmosphere bulb; at 6W–8W, it becomes a practical ambient source for a table lamp or small pendant. Warm white (2700–3000K) is the natural pairing for a visible filament — the amber glow of the filament and the warm colour temperature reinforce each other. Cool white is available for contemporary settings where a crisper light is preferred.

Direct E27 screw-in replacement — no tools required. Rated at 50,000 hours. IP20 — dry indoor use only. Check dimmability before ordering if your fitting has a dimmer switch. Browse our full LED Bulbs range or read our table lamp guide for advice on pairing bulbs with lamp bases and shades.

Common questions

Will the G45 filament fit inside my existing lampshade?

+

At 45mm diameter, the G45 fits inside most standard drum, empire, and cone shades. Measure the internal opening of your shade — if it is at least 50mm across, the G45 will fit with clearance. Ensure the bulb does not touch the shade material; contact between a warm bulb and fabric is a fire risk. In an open-top shade or a lamp without a shade, the G45 globe and filament are fully visible.

What is the difference between the G45 clear filament and the G45 white glass?

+

Both are 45mm G45 globes with E27 caps. The clear filament has a transparent glass envelope — the LED filament is visible and creates a warm, decorative point of light. The white glass has an opaque white envelope — the LED is hidden and the entire globe surface glows evenly. Choose clear filament if you want the filament to be a visible design element; choose white glass if you want a smooth, diffused glow with no visible source.

Is 4W enough for a bedside table lamp used for reading?

+

4W at 2700–3000K produces a soft, warm light — comfortable for ambient bedside use and light reading. For sustained close-up reading or detailed work, 6W–8W will provide more comfortable brightness. If your bedside lamp has a shade that diffuses the light further, lean toward 6W to compensate for the light absorbed by the shade material.

Can I use the G45 in a cluster pendant with 3 or 5 drops?

+

Yes — the G45 is particularly well-suited to cluster pendants where multiple globes hang close together. The compact 45mm diameter prevents the globes from crowding each other visually, and the visible filament in each globe creates a warm, cohesive look across the cluster. Use the same wattage and colour temperature across all drops for a consistent result.

Does the filament stay visible when the bulb is switched off?

+

Yes — the LED filament is visible through the clear glass even when the bulb is off. In an open fitting or a lamp without a shade, the G45 reads as a decorative object at rest — the filament catches ambient light and gives the bulb a considered, intentional appearance. This is one of the key advantages of clear glass filament bulbs over frosted or opaque alternatives, which look like plain white bulbs when unlit.
