E14 LED Globe 3W–12W — Compact range, chandelier wattage guide & vs the 3W–20W range

This is the compact E14 globe range — four wattages covering the most common chandelier and wall light use cases without extending to the higher outputs of the 3W–20W range. For most domestic chandeliers and multi-arm wall lights, 3W–12W per arm covers every realistic scenario: 3W for pure decorative accent, 6W for comfortable ambient dining light, 9W for a brighter primary source, and 12W for maximum output from a standard E14 socket in a domestic fitting. The globe shape produces a uniform, diffused light with no visible chip — suitable for open and enclosed fittings alike. In a 5-arm chandelier, 5 × 9W = 45W total — a well-lit dining room or hallway. In a 3-arm wall light, 3 × 6W = 18W — comfortable ambient wall lighting. Warm white (2700–3000K) is the standard choice for chandeliers and traditional wall lights; cool white (6000–6500K) suits contemporary or industrial multi-arm fittings.

This bulb is not dimmable — do not use with a dimmer switch. Rated IP20 for dry indoor use only. Direct E14 screw-in replacement, no tools required. Browse our full LED Bulbs range or read our chandeliers guide for advice on lighting chandeliers effectively.

Common questions

What is the difference between this 3W–12W range and the 3W–20W E14 range?

+

This range tops out at 12W — sufficient for most domestic chandeliers and wall lights. The 3W–20W range extends to 20W for applications where maximum output is needed from a single E14 socket. For standard residential use, 12W per arm is more than adequate. Choose the 3W–20W range only if you specifically need 15W or 20W output.

Is 9W per arm enough for a chandelier in a hallway?

+

Yes — for most hallways, 9W per arm across 4–6 arms produces a well-lit, welcoming space. A 5-arm chandelier at 9W per arm = 45W total, which is a comfortable primary light source for a standard hallway or dining room. For a larger entrance hall with high ceilings, consider 12W per arm or supplement with additional wall lights.

Can I replace incandescent E14 bulbs with these LED globes without rewiring?

+

Yes — direct screw-in replacement, no rewiring required. The only consideration is the dimmer switch: if your chandelier has a dimmer, this non-dimmable LED will flicker or not function correctly. Replace the dimmer with a standard on/off switch before installing. The LED wattage is much lower than the incandescent it replaces, so the fitting’s wattage rating will not be exceeded.

Will the globe shape fit inside the decorative cups on my chandelier arms?

+

Globe bulbs are wider than candle bulbs — check the internal diameter of the decorative cup or socket housing on your chandelier. If the cup is designed for a candle-shaped bulb, a globe may not fit or may sit awkwardly. In open-arm chandeliers without cups, the globe shape is fully visible and creates a rounder, more contemporary look than a candle bulb.

How long will a 9W E14 LED last in a chandelier used 4 hours per day?

+

At 30,000 rated hours and 4 hours of use per day, this bulb will last approximately 20 years before needing replacement. Even at 6 hours per day, that is over 13 years. LED longevity is one of the strongest arguments for switching from incandescent or halogen E14 bulbs, which typically last 1,000–2,000 hours.
