Vintage Straight Filament Globe Bulb G80 E27 40W — Warm White 2700–3000K, 220V
G80 globe bulb with a classic straight LED filament, E27 screw cap, 40W, and a warm amber glow at 2700–3000K. The straight filament inside the round G80 envelope creates a clean, understated vintage look — more restrained than the spiral variant, and well-suited to fittings where the bulb is visible but should not dominate. Bulb included.

G80 Straight Filament — Classic restraint, globe shape & how it differs from the spiral
The straight filament is the original Edison filament style — a single linear element that runs vertically through the centre of the bulb. Inside the G80 globe, it creates a clean, symmetrical composition: the round glass frames the straight filament without competing with it. The effect is classic and understated — the filament is visible and decorative, but it does not demand attention the way a spiral does. This makes the G80 straight filament the better choice for fittings where the bulb is part of the design but not the focal point: a table lamp with a semi-open shade, a wall sconce with a visible socket, or a pendant cluster where multiple bulbs need to read consistently without visual noise. At 40W and 2700–3000K, the light is warm and ambient — suited to living rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas. The omnidirectional filament casts a soft, even glow with no directional hotspot.
Direct E27 screw-in replacement — no tools or rewiring required. Rated at 50,000 hours. IP20 — dry indoor use only. Check dimmability before ordering if your fitting has a dimmer switch. Common questions
What is the difference between this straight filament G80 and the G80 spiral?
+
Both use the same G80 globe shape and E27 cap. The straight filament runs in a single vertical line — classic, clean, and understated. The spiral filament coils in a helix — more ornamental and eye-catching. Choose straight if you want the filament to complement the fitting without dominating; choose spiral if you want the filament to be a visible design statement. Light output and colour temperature are the same.
Is the G80 globe too large for a standard table lamp?
+
The G80 is 80mm in diameter — slightly wider than a standard A60 bulb (60mm). Most drum, empire, and cone shades will accommodate it, but narrow or tight-fitting shades may not. Measure the internal opening of your shade before ordering. In an open-top lamp or a lamp without a shade, the G80 globe is fully visible and the straight filament creates a clean, elegant look.
Can I use this bulb in a pendant cluster with multiple G80 globes?
+
Yes — the G80 straight filament is an excellent choice for pendant clusters. The consistent round shape and clean filament create a uniform, cohesive look across multiple drops. Use the same wattage and colour temperature across all sockets for an even result. Ensure the total wattage does not exceed the fitting’s rated maximum.
How does 40W LED compare to a 40W incandescent in terms of brightness?
+
This is an LED filament bulb rated at 40W — but LED wattage is not directly comparable to incandescent wattage. A 40W LED filament produces significantly more light than a 40W incandescent. If you are replacing a 40W incandescent, a 4–6W LED filament will produce a similar lumen output. This 40W LED is closer in output to a 250–300W incandescent. Check the lumen output rather than the wattage when comparing bulbs.
Is this bulb suitable for a bedroom bedside lamp?
+
Yes — at 2700–3000K, the warm white light is well-suited to bedrooms. The G80 globe shape works in open-top bedside lamps and lamps without shades. At 40W LED output, it may be brighter than needed for a bedside lamp used only for ambient light — if you want a softer glow, consider a lower-wattage LED filament from our range. For reading, 40W LED provides more than adequate brightness.
