SGU10 LED Bulb — CFL Replacement, Warm White, 30,000h Rated
The SGU10 format exists specifically to prevent standard GU10 halogen bulbs from being fitted — the holder physically blocks them and only accepts the SGU10 format, which promotes energy-efficient lighting. If your existing fitting takes an SGU10 compact fluorescent, this 7W LED is the correct replacement: same base, same output level (650lm), a fraction of the running cost. At 3000K warm white, the tone is soft and relaxed — suited to living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways where a warm, comfortable light is preferred over a crisp neutral or cool white. The 90° wide beam distributes light broadly across the room rather than concentrating it in a spot, which makes it well suited to general ambient lighting rather than task or accent use. Not dimmable — output is fixed at one level. Rated 30,000 hours, which is longer than most standard LED GU10 bulbs (typically 25,000 hours).
Before ordering, confirm your existing bulb is marked SGU10 — not GU10. The two formats are not interchangeable: a standard GU10 will not fit an SGU10 holder, and vice versa. Check the marking on your existing bulb or the holder itself. Browse the full LED bulbs collection or read our indoor lighting guide.
Common questions
What is an SGU10 and how is it different from a standard GU10?
+
An SGU10 lamp holder is designed to physically prevent standard GU10 halogen bulbs from being inserted — it only accepts the SGU10 format, which promotes energy-efficient lighting. If your fitting is marked SGU10, you must use an SGU10 bulb. A standard GU10 will not fit. Check the marking on your existing bulb or holder before ordering.
Is this a simple replacement, or does it need an electrician?
+
No electrician needed. Push in and twist to lock, same as a standard GU10. If the fixture is already hardwired, replacing the bulb does not touch the circuit. Confirm the SGU10 format before fitting.
Can this be dimmed?
+
No — this bulb is non-dimmable. The output is fixed at one level. If you need dimming, browse our dimmable alternatives in the LED bulbs collection or contact us for advice.
Is 3000K warm white the right colour temperature for my room?
+
3000K warm white is a versatile, comfortable tone — slightly crisper than 2700K extra warm white, but still warm enough for living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways. It is the most commonly used colour temperature in residential lighting. If you prefer a cooler, more neutral light for a kitchen or office, 4000K cool white would be a better choice. If you want the warmest, most atmospheric tone, 2700K is closer to candlelight.
How do I confirm my fitting takes an SGU10 bulb?
+
Check the marking on your existing bulb — it will be printed on the base or the glass. If the bulb is already removed, check the lamp holder itself for a label or moulded marking. SGU10 holders are physically different from standard GU10 holders: they have a blocking mechanism that prevents a standard GU10 from being inserted. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the fitting and we will confirm before you order.
