E27 LED Globe 3W–20W — Full wattage range, incandescent equivalents & room guide

This range covers the full spectrum of domestic E27 lighting needs in a single product. At the low end, 3W produces a soft accent glow — ideal for decorative fittings, night lights, and bedside lamps where atmosphere matters more than brightness. At the high end, 20W delivers a lumen output equivalent to a 150W incandescent — enough to light a large living room, open-plan kitchen, or commercial space from a single pendant. The step-up wattages in between (6W, 9W, 12W, 15W, 18W) cover every common domestic use case: 9W replaces a standard 60W incandescent, 12W replaces a 75W, and 15W replaces a 100W. This makes it straightforward to match the output of an existing halogen or incandescent bulb without guessing. The globe produces a uniform, diffused light — no visible chip, no hotspot — suitable for open and enclosed fittings alike. Warm white (2700–3000K) suits living rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas; cool white (6000–6500K) is better for kitchens, offices, and utility rooms where clarity and focus matter.

This bulb is not dimmable — do not use with a dimmer switch. Rated IP20 for dry indoor use only. Direct E27 screw-in replacement, no tools required. At 30,000 rated hours, a 9W variant running six hours a day will last nearly 14 years. Common questions

What is the difference between this 3W–20W range and the 3W–18W range?

+

This range extends to 20W, adding the highest-output option — equivalent to approximately a 150W incandescent. The 3W–18W range tops out at 18W (~120W equivalent). Both use the same E27 cap and produce the same colour temperatures. Choose this range if you need the maximum 20W output; choose the 3W–18W range if 18W covers your needs.

Is 20W LED bright enough to replace a 150W incandescent in a large room?

+

A 20W LED produces approximately 1,800–2,000 lm — equivalent to a 150W incandescent. For a medium-sized living room or open-plan kitchen with a single pendant, this is a strong primary light source. For a large open-plan space or a room with high ceilings, consider using multiple fittings rather than relying on a single bulb, regardless of wattage.

How do I choose the right wattage to replace my existing bulb?

+

Match by lumens, not watts. As a guide: 3W ≈ 25W, 6W ≈ 40W, 9W ≈ 60W, 12W ≈ 75W, 15W ≈ 100W, 18W ≈ 120W, 20W ≈ 150W incandescent. If your old bulb was a 60W incandescent, choose the 9W LED. If it was a 100W halogen, choose the 15W LED. When in doubt, go one step up — you can always use a lower wattage if the room feels too bright.

Will a 20W LED bulb overheat in an enclosed fitting?

+

LED bulbs generate significantly less heat than incandescent or halogen equivalents, but higher-wattage LEDs (15W–20W) do produce more heat than lower-wattage options. In a fully enclosed fitting with no ventilation, heat build-up can reduce lifespan. Check that your fitting is rated for LED use and, if it is tightly enclosed, consider the 15W or 18W option instead of the 20W to reduce heat output.

Can I use this bulb in a fitting that previously had a 60W maximum rating?

+

Yes — the wattage rating on a fitting refers to the heat output of the bulb, not the light output. A 20W LED produces far less heat than a 60W incandescent, so it is safe to use in a fitting rated for 60W incandescent. The LED wattage and the fitting’s incandescent wattage rating are not directly comparable. When in doubt, check the fitting manufacturer’s guidance or contact us.
