E27 LED — Choose the wattage that matches your room and fitting

The five wattage options cover a wide range of use cases. At 5W, this bulb is suited to accent lighting, decorative pendants, or secondary light sources in a layered scheme. At 10–15W, it works as a primary light source in smaller rooms — a bedroom, hallway, or home office. At 20–30W, it delivers high output comparable to a 150–250W incandescent equivalent, making it appropriate for large living rooms, open-plan spaces, or commercial settings where strong, even illumination is needed from a single E27 socket. The warm white option (2700–3000K) produces a relaxed, amber-toned light suited to residential interiors; cool white (6000K) is sharper and better suited to task-focused or commercial environments. The colour temperature is fixed at purchase. These bulbs are not dimmable.

A key advantage of this range is the ability to match the bulb’s output precisely to the fitting’s maximum wattage rating — always check the maximum wattage marked inside your fitting before selecting. Using a bulb above the fitting’s rated maximum is a safety risk and may damage the fitting. At 10,000 rated hours, each bulb will last approximately seven years at four hours of daily use. Common questions

How do I choose the right wattage for my room?

+

A rough guide: 5–10W suits small rooms or accent use (up to ~10m²). 15W works well in medium rooms (10–15m²) with a single ceiling fitting. 20–30W is appropriate for larger rooms or high ceilings where a single bulb needs to carry the full ambient load. Always check the maximum wattage rating marked inside your fitting — never exceed it, regardless of the bulb type.

Is a 30W LED bulb safe to use in a standard E27 fitting?

+

It depends on the fitting’s rated maximum wattage. Most standard domestic pendants and ceiling roses are rated for up to 40–60W, so a 30W LED is within range. However, some decorative or vintage-style fittings have lower ratings (25W or less). Always check the label inside the fitting or the product specification before installing a high-wattage bulb. LED bulbs generate less heat than incandescent equivalents of the same wattage, which reduces thermal risk — but the electrical rating of the fitting still applies.

Are these bulbs dimmable?

+

No — these bulbs are not dimmable. Connecting them to a dimmer switch may cause flickering, buzzing, or premature failure. If dimming is required, please check our LED bulbs range for dimmable E27 options before ordering.

What is the incandescent equivalent of a 20W or 30W LED?

+

LED bulbs are significantly more efficient than incandescent equivalents. As a rough guide: a 20W LED produces light comparable to a 150–175W incandescent; a 30W LED is broadly equivalent to a 200–250W incandescent. These are approximate figures — actual lumen output varies by manufacturer and chip type. Check the lumen figure on the packaging for a precise comparison.

Can I use this bulb in an enclosed or airtight fitting?

+

Higher-wattage LED bulbs (15W and above) generate more heat than lower-wattage options, and enclosed fittings trap that heat. In a fully sealed or airtight enclosure, this can reduce the bulb’s lifespan and, in extreme cases, cause overheating. For enclosed fittings, we recommend using the lowest wattage that meets your light level requirements, or choosing a bulb specifically rated for enclosed use. The 5W and 10W options are generally safer in enclosed fittings than the 20W or 30W variants.
