G95 Globe — A large-format filament bulb that earns its place in the room
At 95mm in diameter, the G95 is the largest standard globe format — significantly bigger than the G45 or A60, and large enough to be a visual presence in its own right. In a bare-socket pendant or an open cage fitting, the G95 does not disappear into the luminaire: it fills the space, the filament glows visibly through the clear glass at 2700K, and the overall effect is closer to a decorative object than a functional light source. This is the bulb for spaces where the lighting is part of the interior design — a kitchen island pendant, a statement floor lamp, a loft-style dining room, or a bar setting where the warm amber glow of a visible filament sets the tone. At 40W and 250–499 lm, the output is moderate — sufficient for ambient use in a well-considered lighting scheme, but not a substitute for a high-output ceiling fitting in a large room. The 2700K colour temperature is fixed. This bulb is not dimmable.
The 50,000-hour rated lifespan is exceptional for a filament-style bulb — at four hours of daily use, that is over 34 years before replacement is needed. The E27 base makes it a direct replacement for any existing G95 or large globe E27 bulb. Before ordering, check that your fitting can physically accommodate a 95mm diameter globe — some pendant shades and cage fittings have a narrower opening that will not accept a bulb of this size. Common questions
Will a G95 globe fit inside my pendant shade?
+
The G95 measures 95mm at its widest point — nearly 10cm in diameter. Many pendant shades, particularly narrow or tulip-shaped designs, will not accommodate a bulb of this size. Before ordering, measure the internal diameter of your shade opening and compare it to the bulb’s 95mm width. The G95 is best suited to open-socket pendants, cage fittings, or large bowl-shaped shades where the bulb has room to sit without touching the sides.
Is 40W a lot for a filament bulb? How does it compare to LED equivalents?
+
In traditional incandescent terms, 40W is a modest output — equivalent to roughly 400–450 lm. This bulb produces 250–499 lm, which is consistent with a 40W filament rating. By comparison, a modern LED bulb producing the same lumen output would typically use 4–6W. The 40W figure here reflects the filament technology rather than LED efficiency. Always check your fitting’s maximum wattage rating before installing — most standard E27 pendants are rated for 40–60W, so this bulb is within the typical range.
Is this bulb dimmable?
+
No — this bulb is not dimmable. If your pendant or floor lamp is connected to a dimmer switch, using this bulb may cause flickering or buzzing. For a dimmable large globe filament option, please check our LED bulbs range before ordering.
Does the G95 produce enough light to illuminate a kitchen island or dining table?
+
As a single bulb, the G95 at 250–499 lm produces a warm, atmospheric glow rather than strong task illumination. Over a kitchen island or dining table, it works best as part of a cluster of two or three pendants, or as a decorative accent supplemented by other light sources. If you need strong, even illumination over a work surface, a higher-lumen fitting or a dedicated task light would be more appropriate.
How does the G95 look compared to a standard A60 globe in the same fitting?
+
The G95 is noticeably larger — at 95mm vs 60mm, it is more than 50% wider than an A60. In an open pendant, the G95 fills the socket area completely and creates a much stronger visual presence. The A60 tends to look proportionate in most pendants; the G95 is a deliberate design choice for fittings where the bulb is meant to be seen. If you are unsure which size suits your fitting, the A60 is the safer default — the G95 is for when you specifically want the large-globe effect.
