A60 LED Filament — The universal fit, filament aesthetics & wattage guide

The A60 is the shape most people picture when they think of a light bulb — the classic pear silhouette that has been the standard for over a century. What makes this version different is the LED filament inside the clear glass envelope: you get the warm, visible glow of a traditional filament bulb with the efficiency and longevity of modern LED technology. Unlike the ST64 or G80 globe, the A60 is compact enough to fit inside enclosed shades and ceiling fittings as well as open pendants — making it the most versatile filament bulb in the range. The filament is visible through the clear glass, adding a decorative quality even in standard fittings. At 2W, it is a pure accent bulb for bedside lamps and decorative fittings. At 6W–8W, it becomes a practical everyday source for table lamps, wall lights, and smaller ceiling pendants. Warm white (2700–3000K) is the natural choice for living rooms and bedrooms; cool white (6000–6500K) suits kitchens and workspaces where clarity is more important than atmosphere.

Direct E27 screw-in replacement — no tools or rewiring required. At 50,000 rated hours, an 8W variant running six hours a day will last over 22 years. IP20 rated — dry indoor use only. Check dimmability before ordering if your fitting has a dimmer switch. Browse our full LED Bulbs range or read our guide to choosing indoor lighting for help matching bulbs to fittings.

Common questions

What is the difference between an A60 filament and an A60 frosted LED?

+

The A60 filament has a clear glass envelope — the LED filament is fully visible and creates a warm point of light with a decorative quality. The frosted A60 has an opal coating that diffuses the light evenly across the bulb surface, eliminating glare and the visible chip. Choose filament if the bulb will be visible and you want the decorative effect; choose frosted if the bulb is at eye level or inside a shade where glare would be uncomfortable.

Will this A60 fit inside an enclosed ceiling fitting or globe shade?

+

Yes — the A60 is the most compact filament shape in the range and fits inside most enclosed fittings and globe shades. Check the internal dimensions of your fitting against the bulb length (typically 110–120mm for an A60) and diameter (60mm). In an enclosed fitting, the filament effect is partially obscured, but the warm glow still comes through the glass.

How does the A60 compare to the ST64 or T45 filament bulbs?

+

The A60 is the most compact and versatile — it fits enclosed and open fittings alike. The ST64 is taller and more decorative, best for open pendants where the teardrop shape is visible. The T45 is tubular and suits horizontal or multi-arm fittings. Choose A60 for maximum compatibility; choose ST64 or T45 for a stronger decorative statement in open fittings.

Is 8W enough to replace a 60W incandescent in a standard lamp?

+

An 8W LED filament produces approximately 600–700 lm — close to a 60W incandescent equivalent. For a table lamp or floor lamp used for reading or ambient light, 8W at 2700K is a comfortable replacement. For a ceiling pendant in a larger room, you may want to pair it with additional light sources or choose a higher-lumen option from our range.

Can I use this bulb in a smart lamp or with a timer switch?

+

Yes — this bulb works with standard timer switches and on/off smart plugs. It is not compatible with dimmer switches or smart dimmers that require a dimmable bulb. If you want smart dimming control, you will need a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible smart dimmer switch.
