Black & Grey — Circular Frame, Even Light, Two Sizes for Two Room Scales
The two-tone palette — black circular frame and central bar, grey base — gives this pendant a more refined finish than a single-colour industrial fitting. The grey base reads as a deliberate contrast rather than an afterthought, and it sits naturally alongside concrete, brushed steel, and light-coloured walls. The circular format with multiple E14 arms distributes light evenly across the full diameter of the fitting, which makes it more effective over a round or square dining table than a linear pendant of the same wattage — the light reaches the edges of the surface rather than concentrating in the centre. The Ø60cm version suits tables up to 140cm and rooms where the pendant is one element among several; the Ø80cm version has more visual weight and is better suited to tables of 160–200cm or as the dominant light source in a larger room. Both use E14 sockets — small candle or globe LEDs at 2700K are the right choice for a warm, cohesive output across all arms. Avoid mixing bulb types or batches, as colour variation between arms is visible in a multi-socket fitting.
The drop is cable-adjustable up to 110cm and is set at the ceiling rose during installation — the excess cable coils inside the rose. The fitting is fixed in position once hung: non-tiltable, non-rotatable. For a dining table, aim for 70–80cm clearance between the bottom of the fitting and the table surface. This is a hardwired fitting — a qualified electrician is required. Browse our pendant lights collection or read our kitchen island lighting guide for placement advice.
Common Questions
Ø60cm or Ø80cm — which size suits my table?
+
For a dining table up to 140cm, the Ø60cm is well-proportioned as a single centrepiece. For a table of 160–200cm, the Ø80cm gives better visual balance and more even light coverage across the full surface. The circular format works particularly well over round or square tables where a linear pendant would feel off-centre. When in doubt, go larger — a pendant that is slightly too big reads as intentional; one that is too small looks undersized.
What E14 bulbs work best in a multi-arm circular fitting?
+
Use small E14 LED bulbs — candle (C35) or small globe (G45) shapes — at 2700K warm white. Buy all bulbs from the same batch to ensure consistent colour across all arms; even small differences in colour temperature are visible when multiple bulbs are lit side by side. Maximum 40W total across all sockets.
Is this pendant dimmable?
+
The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs, but dimming requires both dimmable E14 LEDs and a trailing-edge dimmer wall switch. If you use standard non-dimmable bulbs or a conventional switch, the light will work at full brightness only. Smart E14 bulbs (e.g. Philips Hue, IKEA Tradfri) are an alternative that allows dimming via app without changing the wall switch.
How is the hanging height adjusted?
+
The drop is set by coiling the excess cable inside the ceiling rose at installation — no cutting required. Your electrician sets the final height before closing the rose. The maximum drop is 110cm. For a dining table, aim for 70–80cm clearance between the bottom of the fitting and the table surface.
Does the grey base contrast well with a white ceiling?
+
Yes — the grey base reads as a deliberate accent against a white ceiling rather than blending in. The black frame and central bar create a stronger contrast with the ceiling, while the grey base provides a visual transition. This two-tone approach works well in contemporary and industrial interiors where a single flat-black fitting might feel too heavy.
