Ø25cm or Ø40cm — Black Metal, Wood Accent, Two Very Different Silhouettes
The choice between Ø25cm and Ø40cm is not just about size — it is about the silhouette the fitting creates in the room. The Ø25cm shade is compact and focused: it suits bedside tables, reading corners, kitchen islands, and any position where you want a pendant that draws the eye without dominating the space. The Ø40cm shade has more visual presence and a taller profile — it works better over dining tables and in rooms where the pendant needs to hold its own against higher ceilings or larger furniture. Both share the same material combination: black metal frame and socket, a wood element that introduces warmth and organic texture, and a black cable that keeps the suspension line clean. The black-and-brown palette sits naturally in Scandi, bohemian, and contemporary industrial interiors — it pairs well with oak, walnut, concrete, and white or dark-painted walls. For the best visual result, use a warm filament E27 LED at 2700K: the wood element reads warmest under warm light, and the contrast between the black metal and the amber glow is the defining aesthetic of this fitting.
The drop is adjustable up to 126cm and is set at the ceiling rose during installation — the cable coils inside the rose to achieve the desired height. The fitting is fixed in position once hung: it does not tilt or rotate. For a dining table, aim for 70–80cm clearance between the bottom of the shade and the table surface; for a bedside or reading position, 40–50cm above the surface gives a more intimate, focused light. This is a hardwired fitting — a qualified electrician is required. Browse our pendant lights collection or read our home lighting ideas guide for placement inspiration.
Common Questions
Ø25cm or Ø40cm — which diameter suits my space?
+
The Ø25cm is the more versatile option — it works over a kitchen island, bedside table, reading chair, or as one of several pendants in a row. The Ø40cm has a taller, more sculptural profile that suits dining tables and rooms where the pendant is the visual centrepiece. If you are hanging a single pendant over a dining table of 120–160cm, the Ø40cm is the stronger choice. For multiples or smaller surfaces, the Ø25cm gives better proportions.
What type of wood is used, and will it match my furniture?
+
The wood element has a brown finish that reads as a mid-tone natural wood — it pairs well with oak, pine, and walnut furniture. It is not a perfect match for very dark (ebonised) or very pale (whitewashed) wood, but it complements most standard wood tones used in Scandi and contemporary interiors. Under warm light (2700K), the wood reads warmer and richer than under cool or neutral light.
Can I hang two of these side by side over a dining table?
+
Yes — two Ø25cm pendants spaced 50–60cm apart work well over a dining table of 140–180cm. Each requires its own ceiling rose connection, so your electrician will need to plan the wiring for two points. Hanging at the same height gives a symmetrical, considered look; varying the height by 10–15cm creates a more relaxed, layered effect.
The drop is listed as 126cm — can I set it shorter?
+
Yes — 126cm is the maximum drop. The cable coils inside the ceiling rose, so your electrician can set any drop from a short position up to 126cm at installation. Decide on the final height before the rose is closed. For a dining table, aim for 70–80cm clearance between the bottom of the shade and the table surface; for a bedside or reading position, 40–50cm above the surface is more appropriate.
Will the black metal finish show scratches or marks over time?
+
The black finish is a lacquered metal — durable in normal indoor conditions but can show scratches if knocked or abraded. Once installed at ceiling height, the fitting is rarely touched, so wear is minimal in practice. Clean with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners.
