Most picture lights come in two or three finishes. This one comes in fifteen — including nine powder-coat colours (Orange, Red, Racing Green, Sage Green, Sapphire Blue, Mint Turquoise, Antique Pink, Vanilla Cream, Yellow) alongside the standard brass and black options. The powder-coat finishes are applied over a solid brass body, so the quality and weight are the same regardless of colour. Two G9 sockets spread the light evenly across a 35.5cm bar, which suits paintings and prints up to approximately 80–90cm wide. Both sockets are dimmable with a compatible G9 dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs — useful for adjusting the light level to suit the artwork and the ambient light in the room. Mount the bracket above the frame so the light arm extends over the top edge of the painting, angling the beam downward across the surface. For best results, position the fitting so the light hits the centre of the artwork rather than the top third only. The 35.5cm bar works well for paintings and prints up to approximately 80–90cm wide. For wider artwork, you may want a longer picture light or two fittings. The two G9 sources spread the light more evenly than a single-source bar of the same width.
Which bulbs should I use in the G9 sockets?

Use G9 LED capsule bulbs at 2700K for the most natural colour rendering — max 6.5W per socket. Choose dimmable G9 LEDs if you plan to use a dimmer switch. Avoid halogen G9 bulbs as they run very hot and are less efficient.
Are the powder-coat colour finishes the same quality as the brass finishes?

At what height should I mount the picture light?

Mount the wall bracket so the light arm sits 5–10cm above the top edge of the frame, with the arm angled to direct the beam across the full height of the painting. Too close and the light will only illuminate the top; too far and the beam spreads beyond the artwork. Your electrician can help position the backplate correctly.
