Wingnut joints, reeded glass — position locks in place, textured diffused light
The key difference between this and the clear glass cone version is the joint mechanism and the shade. The wingnut joints lock the arm in position — once you set the angle and reach, it stays there until you manually loosen and readjust. This is preferable to free-pivot joints in situations where you don’t want the arm to drift or be accidentally knocked out of position. The reeded glass shade has a ribbed texture that diffuses the bulb slightly more than clear glass — the filament is still partially visible, but the reeding softens the light and adds visual texture to the shade itself. Max wattage is 40W (not 60W) because the enclosed shade limits heat dissipation — use a modern LED at 4–6W equivalent. A filament LED at 2700K in E27 format gives the warmest result through the reeded glass. Four brass finishes available. Dimmable with a compatible E27 dimmer switch and dimmable bulb. CE, UKCA, and UL certified. IP20 rated; dry indoor use only. Hardwired; professional installation required.
Works well as a bedside reading light, a desk lamp, or an accent light above artwork or a shelf. The wingnut locking mechanism makes it particularly suited to positions where the arm needs to stay precisely placed — above a desk or beside a bed where accidental movement would be disruptive. Common questions
How do the wingnut joints work?
+
Each joint has a wingnut that you loosen by hand to reposition the arm, then tighten to lock it in place. The arm stays fixed at the chosen angle until you deliberately adjust it — unlike free-pivot joints, it won’t drift or move if accidentally knocked. No tools are needed to adjust the position.
How does the reeded glass differ from clear glass?
+
Reeded glass has a ribbed texture that partially diffuses the bulb — the filament is still visible through the glass, but the reeding softens the light slightly and adds visual texture to the shade. Clear glass shows the bulb more directly. Choose reeded if you want a slightly softer, more textured look; choose clear if you want the bulb fully visible as part of the aesthetic.
Why is the max wattage 40W rather than 60W?
+
The enclosed glass shade limits heat dissipation, so the maximum safe wattage is 40W. A modern LED bulb at 4–6W equivalent (40W) runs cool and is well within this limit. Do not exceed 40W with any bulb type.
Is this wall light dimmable?
+
Yes — but you need both a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. Not all dimmers work with all LED bulbs. Check compatibility before purchasing your dimmer. The fitting itself is dimmer-ready.
Does this need a qualified electrician to install?
+
Yes. This is a hardwired wall fitting — it connects directly to your wall wiring with no plug. A qualified electrician is required for safe installation.
